Healthy Aging

Healthy aging research examines physical, cognitive, and social factors influencing health during older ages. This field investigates life transitions and determinants of successful aging, as well as developing interventions to promote independence and enhance well-being. Researchers study biomarkers of aging, cognitive resilience, care delivery models, and family caregiving and dyad dynamics.

Impact

This work is critical as the global population ages at an unprecedented rate. Researchers are developing interventions that extend life expectancy, reduce health care costs, and ensure that longevity is matched by wellness. This research directly addresses the growing demands on health care systems while promoting dignity and quality of life for aging populations worldwide. The healthy aging research is conducted from the perspective of individuals, health systems and dyads.
