Profile

Tieying Yu's research examines the dynamics of interfirm rivalry, with a particular focus on how firms perceive, interpret, and respond to their competitors. Her work spans the literatures on multimarket competition, global strategy, and corporate communication, while her more recent projects extend these questions about rivalry to information intermediaries, ecosystems, and venture capital. Her articles have appeared in the Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Journal of International Business Studies, and Journal of Management, and she has studied competition in settings ranging from U.S. airlines and manufacturing to the global automobile and mobile phone industries. She has served as an Associate Editor at the Journal of Management and currently sits on the editorial boards of the Academy of Management Journal, Journal of International Business Studies, and Strategic Organization. Prior to earning her Ph.D., Professor Yu worked in money market trading at Shanghai Pudong Development Bank and in international settlement at Bank of China.
