Justin Karter, PhD, is the Acting Program Director of the in-development PsyD in Clinical Psychology at Boston College. He also teaches in the Counseling Psychology PhD program and in the Psychological Humanities undergraduate minor. His work sits at the intersection of clinical psychology, philosophical psychology, and the psychological humanities, with particular interests in theories of psychotherapy, the history and philosophy of diagnosis, critical psychology, and the cultural conditions that shape contemporary experiences of suffering and care.

Dr. Karter has served as President (25-26) of the Society for Theoretical and Philosophical Psychology, Division 24 of the American Psychological Association, and received the Division 24 Early Career Award. He writes, edits, and hosts interviews for Mad in America, where his work investigates the fault lines in contemporary mental health discourse. He also maintains an active clinical practice as a licensed psychologist, with a focus on relational-psychodynamic and humanistic-existential psychotherapy.

Mookie is a psychotherapist, professor, and researcher – interested in suffering, embodiment, meaning-making, narratives, trauma, memory, and ethics. He is a Licensed Independent Certified Social Worker (LICSW) psychotherapist in private practice, which blends narrative therapy, psychoanalysis, logotherapy, mindfulness traditions, and body-based techniques. Mookie is a Part-Time Faculty for the School of Social Work (i.e., Narrative Therapy, Adult Psychological Trauma) and Department of Psychology & Neuroscience (i.e., Introduction to Psychopathology) at Boston College. Additionally, he is co-leader of the Psychological Humanities Lab: Ethical Research and Clinical Practices. Mookie is honored to serve as the co-chair for Psychology and the Other, as well as an Associate Editor for its namesake series with Routledge: Taylor & Francis Group. Currently, Mookie resides in Boston, Massachusetts, and is also pursuing a PhD in Pastoral Theology & Psychology at Boston University.

David Goodman is Dean of the Woods College of Advancing Studies, the Executive Director of the Center for Psychological Humanities and Ethics, and an Associate Professor in the Formative Education department within the Lynch School of Education and Human Development. He also serves on the faculty in the Counseling, Developmental, and Educational Psychology and Philosophy departments at Boston College. Dr. Goodman is an interdisciplinary scholar who writes at the intersection of psychology and ethical phenomenology. He also serves as the Series Editor for the Psychology and the Other and Essays in the Psychological Humanities Book Series with Routledge. He has authored and edited over a dozen books including The Demanded Self: Levinasian Ethics and Identity in Psychology (with Duquesne University Press, 2012) and Psychology and the Other (with Mark Freeman and Oxford University Press, 2015). Dr. Goodman is also a licensed clinical psychologist and has a private practice in Boston, MA.
