An Anti-Racism Examen, designed by the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities (AJCU) in collaboration with colleagues across member institutions. The Examination of Consciousness 鈥 or Examen 鈥 a practice used by Jesuits and their colleagues to help us to make choices and act in ways that better the world.
This program is a collaboration between the Office of the Vice President for Human Resources, and the Intersections Office. The Anti-Racism Examen focuses on matters of race and racism that are specific to us and our institution. Consisting of two 1.5-hour sessions, participants will partake in guided conversations and strategic collaborations that will build reflective practices, helping participants make choices and act in ways that strengthen our commitment to an antiracist working and learning environment at Boston College.聽Due to limited space, priority is offered to those who have not previously participated in the Examen.

The Office of Intersections and the Office of the Vice President for Human Resources invite you to participate in "Eyes to See: An Anti-Racism Examen." The Examination of Consciousness, or Examen, is among the anchors of the spiritual life for Jesuits and all people who find a path to God through Ignatian spirituality. It is a reflective practice for helping us to make choices and act in ways that better the world.
The Eyes to See Examen consists of two 1.5-hour sessions. Participants will engage in guided conversations and strategic collaborations that foster reflective practices, enabling them to make informed choices and act in ways that strengthen our commitment to advancing and sustaining a welcoming and respectful working and learning environment at Boston College.
Participants must be able to attend both in-person sessions. The schedule is as follows:
- November 17, 2025 (Monday)
- December 3, 2025 (Wednesday)
Both sessions will be in Walsh Hall Room 131 from 3:00pm - 4:00pm.
