Eligibility

To apply, you must have either:

• Graduated from an American Bar Association-approved US law school
• Obtained a full degree in law from a non-U.S. university
• Been admitted to practice law in a country other than the U.S.

English Language Skills

ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app Law coursework and academic activities require written and spoken fluency in English, so you must be able to express yourself in spoken and written English and must read the language with ease.

You must submit evidence of your English language ability unless English is your native language or English was the language of instruction for your entire legal education.

We accept the following tests as evidence of your English ability:

• —we require a minimum score of 100
• —we require a minimum overall band score of 7.0
• —we require a minimum score of 130

Applying

To apply for the upcoming academic year, complete your online application through the  starting September 15.

Your completed application must include:

• Application form
• Resume or CV
• Statement of Purpose
• Three signed letters of recommendation
• Official transcripts with a certified English translation from all of your colleges, universities, and graduate and professional schools
• Official TOEFL or IELTS score report
• $75 application fee

Online

We prefer that you apply through  and use the LSAC LLM Credential Assembly Service. LSAC forwards the relevant documents to us.

You must pay the $75 application fee by credit card. If this form of payment is not available to you, contact the Office of Graduate Legal Education.

Costs & Aid

Costs

The estimated total cost of living for the 2025–2026 academic year is $99,781. This figure includes directly billed law school tuition, fees and books ($72,705), and indirectly billed estimated living expenses ($27,026), and $50 ID card fee. It doesn’t include the expenses of travel between your home country and Boston.

Scholarships

We offer a limited number of scholarships to LLM students. All students admitted to the LLM program will be considered for scholarship assistance.

If you need financial assistance, explore funding sources—employers, government agencies, and foundations, for example—in your home country well in advance. Your home country’s U.S. embassy or consulate may have additional information on Fulbright Scholarships and other fellowship opportunities.

You may also be able to acquire loan funding through private loans. However, if you are not a US citizen or permanent resident, lenders generally require a US citizen or permanent resident to guarantee the loan.
